Gaelic place names and their history

Online - Friday 28 February - 3pm-4.30pm

This talk by Iain Taylor examines the names collected by the Ordnance Survey (OS) and recorded in the OS Name Books in Gaelic spelling during the latter half of the 19th century. We see what “Gaelic Names in Gaelic Orthography” means, what “Highland/Lowland Border Counties” means and why these are important. We also look at local peculiarities in Gaelic grammar and vocabulary.
