Childminding recruitment event in Speyside

A Career in childminding is calling in Moray

Moray residents considering a career in childminding are invited to find out more at informal information sessions in Speyside.

Moray Council’s Childminding Development Officer, Mags Smith, will be offering insights into the profession over four evenings in September at the Speyside Sports and Community Centre.

Focussing on the role of a childminder; how to become a childminder; what support is available for professionals in the sector; and meeting current childminders from the area the sessions last an hour and are a relaxed introduction to a potential career change.

Speaking about the events, Mags said: “As a former childminder myself I know it can be daunting to consider a complete career change and to go self-employed. We’re holding these sessions so people in Speyside who may be considering the move can find out everything they want to know before making that decision.

“Childminders played a huge part in the covid-19 pandemic, providing childcare for the children of keyworkers, opening their homes to make sure the critical workforce could continue to operate. The profession is a fantastic way to provide childcare, be your own boss and develop your early learning and childcare skills.

“If it’s something you like the sound of but aren’t too sure what’s involved, come along and find out more. You don’t have to attend every session and I look forward to meeting anyone from Speyside interested in the sector.”

The bite-size sessions will be held in accordance with covid-19 guidelines and restrictions at the time. The minimum requirement is for face coverings to be worn indoors.
