Aberlour Primary School inspection report released
Pupils at Aberlour Primary School have been praised by Education Scotland for the positive and supportive environment across the school.
During their recent visit, inspectors found that pupils are proud of their school, enjoy learning and benefit from the calm and welcoming environment created by staff and school leaders. The report highlighted the support provided for children with additional needs, with most pupils making good progress towards their targets.
Staff were also praised for working closely with partners to provide children with a wide range of learning and wellbeing opportunities.
The inspection focused on four quality indicators. Leadership of change; ensuring wellbeing, equality and inclusion; and raising attainment and achievement were all rated as ‘good’. Learning, teaching and assessment was rated as ‘satisfactory’.
While the report recognised a number of strengths, inspectors also highlighted areas where further improvements could be made. These included developing more consistent approaches to learning and teaching across the school, improving play-based learning in the early years and reviewing learning pathways across the curriculum to help support children’s progress and achievement.
Aberlour Primary School’s Head Teacher, Mandy Inkson, commented: “We’re delighted that inspectors recognised our ‘good’ ratings for leadership, wellbeing and attainment. This report reflects the dedication, hard work and commitment of our staff and pupils, and we’ll continue building on these strengths to ensure every child is supported to reach their full potential.”
Moray Council’s Chief Education Officer, Vivienne Cross, added: “This report recognises the positive relationships and supportive atmosphere at Aberlour Primary School. It’s encouraging to see the school’s strengths highlighted while also setting out clear areas for continued improvement to help achieve the best outcomes for children and young people.”
