Active Schools Primary Cross Country to take place
The Active Schools Primary Cross Country, Moray’s largest sporting festival for young people, takes place on Saturday 22 March from 11.10am.
More than 600 children are expected to take part in the annual event, which is organised by the Moray Active Schools and Community Sport team.
The festival, which attracts around 1,000 spectators, aims to give participants a taste of what it’s like to take part in a major sporting event with school pupils from across the region coming together in the spirit of friendly competition.
Chair of Moray Council’s Education, Communities and Leisure Services Committee, Cllr Kathleen Robertson, said: “This is the flagship event in the Active Schools sporting calendar, and it’s a great opportunity for children to develop not only a love for sport; but a genuine passion. It’s brilliant that young people from across Moray are able to participate in a sporting event of this size and scale.”
The Active Schools Cross Country aims to encourage long term participation in sport – with all children receiving information about how they can sign up for local athletics clubs, and the Cooper Park Junior Park Run.
