Applications being accepted from businesses for the Covid Economic Recovery Fund

BUSINESSES in Moray can apply for financial support from the Covid Economic Recovery Fund being administered by Moray Council.

To ensure local businesses can move towards recovery, growth and building resilience, a budget of £400,000 has been agreed for the provision of a Discretionary Business Support Fund. The fund will provide grants of £6,000 to businesses that pay non-domestic rates and have been affected by ongoing Covid-19 mitigations.

Recognising that many local businesses have little reserves left as a result of the pandemic, £410,000 of funding will go towards town centre capital business improvements and start-up grants. The purpose of the grants is to improve the attractiveness of the business, encourage people to shop local and to generate increased footfall.

Information on eligibility and how to apply for these schemes is available on Moray Council’s website

Moray Council’s Head of Economic Growth and Development, Jim Grant, said the Covid Economic Recovery Funding will allow the council to support the varied needs of businesses across Moray.

“Businesses continue to face the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on a daily basis. The flexibility of the funding will allow us to target our support to those who need it most as we focus our efforts on recovering from the pandemic.

“We will start processing applications from 25 April onwards – we politely ask that applicants not send follow up enquiries or emails, as it slows down the process of awarding funding.”
