Bike Fest returns for 2026

An annual cycling event aimed at encouraging people to get on their bikes is making a return for 2026.

The first Bike Fest of 2026 will be taking place from 12pm-3pm at Elgin’s Cooper Park on Sunday 28 June and from 12pm-3pm at Alice Littler Memorial Park in Aberlour on Sunday 30 August.

A range of activities will be on offer including an obstacle course, led rides, bike maintenance checks, BMX sessions and a smoothie bike – which lets people blend fruit using pedal power.

Bikes will be provided for some activities, and there will also be the opportunity to try out adapted bikes, such as tandems and cargo bikes.

No registration is needed, and all events are free of charge.

It comes as Moray Council and partners roll out an innovative new strategy called Active Moray, designed to make physical activity and sport a key part of everyday life.

Chair of Moray Council's Education, Communities and Leisure Services Committee, Cllr Kathleen Robertson, said: “It’s great to see Bike Fest return for 2026, and it’s a fantastic opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to get active, build confidence on a bike and enjoy local green spaces.

“As well as being a fun day out, it highlights the wider benefits of walking, wheeling and cycling – active travel for short trips can improve physical and mental wellbeing and help create healthier, more sustainable communities.”

Bike Fest is organised by Moray Council’s Active Travel team, in partnership with Outfit Moray, Get on a Bike, Elgin Sports Community Trust (ESCT) Mountain Bike (MTB), Tyred n Cranky and Moray CAN.
