Bin collection dates changing for some Buckie residents

BIN COLLECTION dates for some Buckie residents are changing.

Recycling and green bin collections will all be moved on one week from their current collection schedule, with effect from the week beginning 7 September. The council has faced difficulties in servicing routes in the area due to the availability of staff and vehicles, and the changes required to allow for physical distancing and safe working practices during the pandemic.

All affected households will be written to, with the changes explained, and new calendars will be available on the council’s website by Friday 4 September. Crews will accept excess waste for collection on the week commencing 14 September.

Moray Council’s Waste Manager, Mike Neary, said: “We’re still facing the challenges presented by the pandemic, and we apologise to customers who have been affected by disrupted collections. Our crews have been working extremely hard, but we recognise there are changes we can make for the better, so this is exactly what we’re doing.

“Altering this collection schedule for around 5,300 Buckie homes will improve the service we can offer our residents, reducing the number of missed bins and return visits of our crews. As ever, I’d like to thank residents for their continued patience and understanding.”
