Bishopmill Primary School inspection report published
Education Scotland inspectors praised the well-behaved and self-assured pupils at Bishopmill Primary School in their latest report of the school.
The report commends teachers for teaching students about the school's mission and core values, which empowers them to live out those values in their relationships with one another.
Students across the school were found to be confident, capable and self-assured. They are respectful, eager to learn, and incredibly proud of their school.
The school's vision, values, and objectives are shared by all members of the community, including faculty and students, ensuring that values are demonstrated in all interactions.
The report continues by highlighting the efforts of senior leaders and their contribution to forging a robust framework for partnership working that supports students' learning, well-being, and development of life and career skills.
Because teachers used questioning techniques, children were also able to express their opinions and engage meaningfully in class and group discussions.
Teachers at Bishopmill Primary were urged to continue enhancing the quality of learning, teaching, and assessment to better meet the learning requirements of the students via careful preparation and the appropriate support in the classroom.
Teachers were also encouraged to involve the senior leadership team and get support from them to include staff members in discussions and analyses of a broader range of data to accelerate change and more correctly assess the development that children are making.
Four of the quality indicators focused on during the primary inspection were Leadership of change, Learning, teaching and assessment, ensuring wellbeing, equality and inclusion, and Raising attainment and achievement.
All these indicators were rated as ‘good’ after analysis which explains that the school is focusing on collaborative leadership and providing high-quality learning experiences, ensuring all students' successes are maximised through timely assessment.
The school also excelled in wellness, equality, and inclusion, adhering to legal procedures and promoting student appreciation, thereby enhancing attainment and improved student performance.
Moray Council’s Chief Education Officer, Vivienne Cross, said: “It’s great to see recognition of the positive school environment, encouraging student relationships and career skill development, and agreeing with remarks to get senior leaders' involved to enhance learning quality.
“The school has already started to collaborate with senior leadership to enhance instruction, learning, and evaluation, while addressing students' needs and involving staff in data analysis to support staff members assess children’s progress and accurately determine whether they are making progress.’’
