Building damage in Land Street, Buckie
The property damaged over the weekend contains four dwellings of supported accommodation and belongs to the ARK Housing Association. Two Moray Council tenants who resided there are now in temporary accommodation as a result of the damage. No-one was injured.
ARK has contacted Moray Council to confirm that assessors and structural engineers are on site this afternoon to inspect the property. Apart from the care of our tenants, Moray Council’s role is that of public safety in case of further building collapse. The council is content at this stage that ARK staff are doing all that is required in this regard, and our only involvement is likely to be further into the process. This could be in an advisory capacity, for planning issues or when permits for temporary closure of part of the carriageway may be required.
Famous for its colony of dolphins, fabulous beaches and more malt whisky distilleries than any where else in Scotland, Moray is a thriving area and a great place to live. Nestling between Aberdeenshire and the Highlands, Moray stretches from Tomintoul in the south to the shores of the Moray Firth, from Keith in the east to Brodie Castle in the west.
