Burghead Nursery-2

Burghead Nursery receives positive feedback from Education Scotland inspectors

Burghead Nursery has received praise from Education Scotland inspectors for the nurturing experiences and strong learning environment it provides.

In their recent report, inspectors highlighted the nursery's ability to create engaging and enriching learning experiences that meet the individual needs and interests of the children. They also highlighted the effective interactions between the manager, staff, and children, which help to extend and deepen the children's thinking.

Practitioners know each child well, both as individuals and learners, enabling them to make very good progress in learning.

The report also praised the nursery's strong connections with the local community, giving children plenty of chances to learn about the people, places, and wildlife nearby. This helps children develop a deeper understanding of their local area and strengthens their role as valued members of the community.

A small area for improvement was identified, focusing on streamlining the approaches to planning, recording, and tracking children’s learning. This will help reduce duplication and provide a clearer overview of each child’s development.

During the inspection, two key areas were evaluated: Learning, Teaching, and Assessment, and Securing children’s progress. Both areas were rated as ‘very good.’

Burghead Nursery’s Manager, Anita McGillivray, said: “We’re thrilled to receive such positive feedback from Education Scotland, which truly reflects the dedication and hard work of our staff in creating a nurturing environment. It’s rewarding to see how engaged the children are with their learning, and we remain committed to continuously refining our approach to ensure even better outcomes for all.”

Moray Council’s Chief Education Officer, Vivienne Cross, said: “Burghead Nursery continues to show its dedication to providing high-quality education and care. The positive feedback highlights the nursery’s commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment where each child can thrive. Their strong ties with the local community play a big part in their success. We’re proud of the team’s hard work and look forward to seeing continued progress.”
