Cash boost for local projects across Moray through Common Good Funds
Communities across Moray have benefitted from hundreds of thousands of pounds of investment, as new figures highlight the impact of the area’s Common Good Funds.
The latest report also shows more than £278,000 will be available to support local projects in 2026/27, building on a year of funding that has helped everything from playparks and sports groups to community events and heritage projects.
During 2025/26, Common Good Funds helped bring a wide range of community ideas to life, including:
- £20,000 to support Buckie Fishermen’s Hall, a well-used local venue
- £10,000 for Buckie Community Sports Hub, helping people stay active
- Improvements to local parks, including funding for a new playpark at Linzee Gordon Park
- Support for festive celebrations like Christmas lights in Cullen, Elgin and Forres
- £10,000 for Elgin & District Pipe Band, backing local culture
- £26,400 for gull control measures in Elgin
- Funding for groups such as Moray Street Pastors, helping keep people safe on nights out
There’s more to come this year, with funding already lined up to support:
- Community safety initiatives, including police patrols and traffic enforcement
- Ongoing upkeep of parks, green spaces and public areas
- Local organisations and events that make towns vibrant places to live.

Common Good Funds have been supporting communities for centuries, and the council continues to take a balanced approach by spending most of the income each year while setting some aside to keep the funds going for the long term.
