Census support available in Moray
Moray Council is supporting residents who need help completing their census 2022 form.
The census is used to plan vital public services and inform investment in education, transport, health and social care in Moray. In order to accurately reflect Moray everyone needs to fill their form in.
The 10-yearly census is to be completed primarily online for the first time with Moray Council’s Adult & Family Learning Team on hand to assist anyone who doesn’t feel confident completing it online. Paper copies are available on request using the details on the household letter.
The Moray team is standing by to help complete forms in-person or over the phone and can be emailed on adult.learning@moray.gov.uk or phoned on 01343 562632. Computers are available in all council libraries for locals to use to complete census forms too.
Moray Pathways employability and training hub is also running two drop-in sessions at The Inkwell, Francis Place, Elgin on Wednesday 9 March, 2pm-5pm and Wednesday 16 March, 9am-12pm. Four terminals will be available as well as a Digital Literacy support person on hand to help. If these times are not suitable contact can be made via moraypathways@moray.gov.uk for further support.
Letters giving everyone a unique code to access their form online started arriving in households on Monday 28 February and, despite Census day being 20 March, can be completed as soon as the code arrives. Any answers in the form should reflect the household circumstances on 20 March 2022.
The census asks questions on a range of topics, including the types of accommodation people stay in, household relationships, age, sex, health and employment status. New questions for the 2022 census include use of British Sign Language (BSL), passports held, sexual orientation, trans status and previous armed forces service history.
