Childcare facility at Kinloss Primary School

Childcare facility available for school-aged care provider at Kinloss Primary School

A childcare facility at the former janitor’s house within the grounds of Kinloss Primary School has become available. This presents an excellent opportunity for a new provider to establish a school-aged childcare (SAC) service to support local families.

The property, which has been used as an out-of-school care facility for the past decade, became vacant when the previous private provider chose to pursue other opportunities. Moray Council is now looking for expressions of interest from childcare providers wanting to lease the building and continue offering essential services such as breakfast clubs, after-school programs, and holiday care.

Located within the grounds of Kinloss Primary School, the facility is ideally suited for children aged 5-12 years. It includes a reception hall, office, quiet room, playroom, kitchen, and toilets, as well as a separate disabled WC. Additionally, the building features a secure, fenced outdoor play area and access to three designated parking areas within the school grounds.

The previous organisation had up to 30 children registered and generally had up to 20 in any one day. It would be the responsibility of the new service provider to acquire all service specific conditions to support full Care Inspectorate registration

The property is served by mains electricity, water, and gas-fired central heating. The lease terms are flexible, ranging from three to ten years on a full repairing & insurance basis, with offers over £5,150 per annum being invited. Rent reviews will be conducted on a three-year cycle, and the council will arrange building insurance, with the cost being recovered from the tenant.

Chair of Moray Council’s Education Children’s and Leisure Services Committee, Cllr Kathleen Robertson, said: “We’re excited to offer this opportunity to a local childcare provider. The building at Kinloss Primary School is ideal for supporting families, and the hope would be to continue to function at the capacity previously provided with Care Inspectorate agreement. We’d dearly like to see a new service continue the high standard of care previously provided, as this is a great opportunity to meet the growing demand for childcare in the local community.”
