Consultation launches on overnight stays for campervans and motorhomes visiting Moray

Moray Council has launched a consultation on proposals to formally manage overnight stays for campervans and motorhomes at designated council-owned locations.

The scheme would aim to provide convenient short-stay, on-the-go overnight parking options, while enhancing how these visits are managed across the region.

Provisional locations have been identified for consideration in Lossiemouth, Cullen, Buckie, Forres, Portgordon, Burghead, Ballindalloch, Craigellachie, and Aberlour; with communities being encouraged to also suggest alternative locations as part of the consultation.

The online survey takes around 10-minutes to complete and covers potential impacts, operating hours and site suitability. The survey is open until Friday 16 May, after which a report summarising the findings will be presented to councillors for review.

You can have your say and access the consultation here.

Chair of Moray Council’s Economic Development and Infrastructure Services Committee, Cllr Marc Macrae said: “Moray is a much-loved destination for visitors travelling by motorhome or campervan, and while we welcome that, we recognise the pressures this can place on communities.

“This consultation gives residents the chance to shape a scheme that supports sustainable tourism, while balancing the needs of residents and ensuring that any overnight stay is enjoyable, responsible and well-managed."
