Consultation opens on ASN strategy

Public consultation opens today on a draft additional support needs strategy for children and young people in Moray.

Public consultation opens today on a draft additional support needs strategy for children and young people in Moray.

It is part of a wide-ranging review of ASN provision and services across the area.

Around 28% of pupils in Moray require some degree of additional support in school and Moray Council currently spends more than £7.5million a year meeting their needs.

The aim of the strategy is to identify principles and structures that make the most effective and efficient use of resources to meet the needs of ASN pupils and achieve the best outcome for them.

The draft has been prepared following extensive consultation with parents, teachers and others and the document has now gone out to further consultation before going back to the council’s children and young people’s services committee for final approval.

The consultation runs until May 8 and the draft strategy can be accessed at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/7HVJYC2
