Cooking up a storm at Elgin library author event

A COOKERY-themed author event is to be held in Elgin Library next week.

On Wednesday 10 July Elgin Library, in conjunction with Waterstones, will play host to an 'in conversation' event with Ghillie Basan, award-winning author of over 40 cookbooks, and Kirsten Gilmour from Aviemore's Mountain Cafe.

Writer, journalist and broadcaster, Ghillie, has travelled the world to research different cooking traditions. In Spirit & Spice she delves into the Scottish larder, using her knowledge of spices to shine a light on local ingredients.

This latest book is a portrait of a family living and eating in the Highlands using Scotland’s fabulous produce, wild food and whisky. Ghillie traces the stories behind the recipes to paint an inspirational and heartfelt picture of family life in one of the wildest and most beautiful corners of Scotland.

Tickets can be purchased from Elgin Library, or the online shop: https://secure.moray.gov.uk/eshop/home.php.

Famous for its colony of dolphins, fabulous beaches and more malt whisky distilleries than any where else in Scotland, Moray is a thriving area and a great place to live. Nestling between Aberdeenshire and the Highlands, Moray stretches from Tomintoul in the south to the shores of the Moray Firth, from Keith in the east to Brodie Castle in the west.
