Council tenants encouraged to take part in estate walkabouts
Council house tenants in Moray are being asked to help shape local improvements by joining upcoming estate walkabouts with council staff and elected members.
The annual walkabouts give residents an opportunity to highlight issues, and shape how Moray Council allocates its annual £230,000 estate improvement fund.
Previous improvements delivered as a result of walkabouts include new fencing at Hermes Lane in Elgin, cleaning and resurfacing of communal parking areas on James Street in Buckie and upgrades to steps and footpaths at Quarryhill in Keith.
Drainage, tarmac and access improvements have also been completed at multiple estates, including in Forres and Cullen.
The upcoming walkabouts will take place on the following dates:
- Thursday 28 August
- o 10am – The Square, Aberlour
- o 10am – Keith Community Hub, Mid Street, Keith
- Thursday 4 September
- o 2pm – Stuart Street, Forres
- Monday 8 September
- o 2pm – Stuart Place, Hopeman
- Wednesday 17 September
- o 10am – Home Bakery, Well Road, Buckie
- o 10am – Manbeen Place carpark, Elgin
- Thursday 25 September
- o 10am – Alba Place, Elgin
- Tuesday 30 September
- o 10am – Craiganroan Corner, Portgordon
- o 11am – The Institute, Fochabers
Councillor Amber Dunbar, the Chair of Moray Council's Housing and Community Safety Committee, said: “These walkabouts are a great way for tenants to work directly with us to identify local issues that matter to them. Whether it’s something that might seem small, like a broken fence, or a larger concern about shared spaces, the feedback we get helps guide real improvements. Local elected members are also invited to attend, so it is a great opportunity to not just pass on concerns to the housing team, but also to chat to councillors.”
