Council tenants invited to take part in estate walkabouts
Council house tenants across Moray are being encouraged to take part in this year’s estate walkabouts, designed to help influence improvements in their area.
The annual walkabouts are one of the main ways residents can get involved in the estate improvement process. They provide an opportunity for tenants, elected members and council officers to discuss local priorities and shape how funding for estate improvements is spent.
Improvements taken following last year’s walkabouts include upgrades to footpaths, the removal of overgrown trees and bushes, improvements to communal parking and upgrades to fencing.
The 2026 programme of estate walkabouts will take place on the following dates:
Monday 24 August
- 2pm – Cullen Square, Cullen
Tuesday 25 August
- 10am – Well Road Bakery, Buckie
- 1pm – Seafield Hospital, Buckie
Wednesday 26 August
- 2pm – Alba Place, Elgin
Monday 31 August
- 2pm – Manbeen Place car park, Elgin
Friday 4 September
- 10am – The Square, Rothes
Monday 14 September
- 2pm – Inchbroom Avenue car park, Lossiemouth (next to number 84)
Monday 21 September
- 2pm – Outside the public toilets, Fochabers
Tuesday 22 September
- 10am – Co-op, Grantown Road, Forres
Councillor Amber Dunbar, Chair of Moray Council’s Housing and Community Safety Committee, said: “Estate walkabouts give tenants a direct opportunity to tell us what improvements they would like to see in their neighbourhoods. Residents know their communities best, and the feedback they provide helps us identify priorities and plan projects that make a real difference. I’d encourage anyone with an interest in their local area to come along, share their views and help shape future improvements.”
While registration is not required, those wishing to attend are encouraged to contact officers by phoning 0300 123 4566 or emailing tenantparticipation@moray.gov.uk. This will allow them to contact you if timings change on the day, or if a walkabout has to be postponed.
