Elgin ASG engagement

Engagement launches in Elgin ASG to shape future of Moray schools

Moray Council has today (Tuesday 28 May) launched the next phase of their engagement to address the sustainability challenges of their current learning estate, focusing on the Elgin Associated School Groups (ASG).

The engagement aims to examine the use, occupancy, suitability, and condition of all Moray schools. The goal is to deliver a modern, fit-for-purpose and affordable learning estate for communities across Moray.

Each ASG will be considered individually, allowing for a more detailed approach within each community. Public engagement has already taken place in the Forres and Buckie ASGs and the roll out of other ASG focused engagement across Moray will continue over the next year.

Local residents in both Elgin Academy and Elgin High ASGs are invited to participate in an online survey to share views and opinions on what they want from their schools. Local opinions are vital to help shape the future of the learning estate in the area. This survey runs until 28 June 2024.

A community drop-in session will be held at Elgin Library on 17 June from 10.30am-7pm. This a chance for anyone who wishes to discuss and share their thoughts in-person to come along and speak with the team.

Depute Chief Executive of Moray Council, Denise Whitworth, said: “All our young people deserve to have access to the best educational opportunities possible, so it’s important we make decisions to ensure a sustainable future for our learning estate.

“I encourage all local residents to get involved and share your thoughts, all opinions are valued. The engagement we’ve had in Forres and Buckie has been extremely productive so I look forward to Elgin residents also taking part in high numbers.”
