Moray Council has been awarded European Social Fund money for two new projects via the Scottish Government.

Moray Council has been awarded European Social Fund money for two new projects via the Scottish Government.

An employability project which will help to train out-of-work people to enable them to progress towards finding employment has been given £334,000.

The project target is that within two years more than 100 people will have entered employment after completing a training course, which is aimed at those who face barriers to returning to work.

The training will be provided by partner organisations, including the Elgin Youth Development Group and the Social Enterprise Academy.

The second is a poverty and social inclusion project which is to receive £121,000 from the European Social Fund.

It will be council-led and will aim to advise and assist people in Moray who are facing money and debt problems. In particular, the project will help lone parents and people from low income or workless households.

The two-year target for this project is to help 800 people in Moray.

Further information on both projects is available by e-mailing employment.support.service@moray.gov.uk
