Homeowners in conservation areas can apply to windows replacement fund

Homeowners in Moray’s conservation areas are being encouraged to apply for grants up to £12,500 to repair or reinstate traditional windows.

Householders are required to submit a preliminary enquiry form before 24 November 2023 to find out if they need planning permission.

Planning permission will need to be obtained before an application can be made to the grant funding scheme.

The preliminary enquiry forms are here on Moray Council’s website.

Applications for grants close on 23 February 2024.

Chair of Moray Council’s Planning and Regulatory Services Committee, Cllr David Gordon, said: “Preserving the heritage of our conservation areas helps to keep Moray’s architecture and historic buildings special.

“I’d encourage those living in Moray’s conservation areas to consider applying for financial support under this scheme. Not only will replacement or repaired windows help to reduce the carbon emissions of a home, they can save households money on their energy bills.”

Information on which types and styles of window that will be acceptable can be found in the council’s replacement windows and doors guidance.

Conservation areas can be found on this map.
