Free after three returns to Elgin this festive season
Moray Council has announced the return of its popular Free After Three festive parking initiative in Elgin, running from Saturday 6 December until Saturday 3 January 2026.
Visitors to Elgin can enjoy free parking from 3pm to 6pm, Monday to Saturday, at the St Giles Multi-storey Car Park, making it easier than ever to shop local, support independent businesses, and soak up the festive atmosphere in the town centre.
Now in its 11th year, the initiative continues to be a cornerstone of Elgin’s Christmas celebrations, encouraging residents and visitors alike to explore the town’s vibrant retail offering and seasonal events. The scheme kicks off just in time for the community Christmas lights switch on, bringing sparkle and cheer to the heart of Moray.
Councillor Marc Macrae, Chair of Moray Council’s Economic Growth and Infrastructure Services Committee, said: “Free After Three is a fantastic way to support our local businesses during the busiest shopping season of the year. Whether you're coming to enjoy the lights, meet friends for a festive catch-up, or pick up those last-minute gifts, this initiative makes it easier to enjoy everything Elgin has to offer.”
The initiative is part of Moray Council’s ongoing commitment to boosting the local economy and creating a welcoming, accessible town centre experience during the festive period.
Whether you're a regular shopper or visiting Elgin for the first time, take advantage of Free After Three and make your festive season a little more magical.
