Free goalball taster session to be held in Lossiemouth

A FREE goalball taster session is being held in Lossiemouth later this month.

Goalball is a paralympic sport played by two teams of three players. This session, being held at Lossiemouth Community Centre on Tuesday 16 October from 11am - 12.30pm, is open to fully sighted and visually impaired players aged eight and over.

The object of the game is to score a goal by bowling a ball along the floor so that it crosses the goal line of the opposing team. All players wear eyeshades and the ball contains internal bells which help players locate it during play.

Moray Council's Active Schools and Sports Development Manager, Kim Paterson, is looking forward to introducing the inclusive sport to Moray.

"Goalball UK recently delivered a club leader's course in Moray and we're keen to use this new knowledge and skills to establish a club locally in partnership with Grampian Disability Sport."
