Get Online Week events to tackle digital exclusion
A series of workshops, community-led sessions and drop-in events aimed at getting people online are to take place across Moray next week.
They’ve been arranged to mark Get Online Week – a national campaign led by the Good Things Foundation aimed at tackling digital exclusion.
This year, the theme is #TryOneThing, encouraging people to take a small step towards digital literacy – whether it’s sending an email, joining a video call or exploring online services.
Events taking place include Get Started Online sessions, aimed at introducing people to the internet and IT Help Hubs. A full list of events can be found here.
Cllr Marc Macrae, Chair of Moray Council’s Economic Development & Infrastructure Services Committee, said: “Helping people feel confident using the internet is key to reducing loneliness and improving access to vital services. These sessions offer a welcoming space to try something new, even if it’s just one small thing – and help build confidence in helping feel safe online and being aware of scams and pitfalls.”
You can book your place at a session in person at Moray libraries, by emailing getdigital@moray.gov.uk or by calling 01343 562603. No booking is required for drop-in events.
