The public have responded in big numbers to a survey which will help in developing a new transport strategy for Elgin.

The public have responded in big numbers to a survey which will help in developing a new transport strategy for Elgin.

The survey, which closed on Sunday, generated more than 800 responses from individuals and organisations over a six-week period.

The requirement for a strategy was agreed by councillors earlier this year to enable the council to plan for a growing Elgin with more homes and businesses.

Moray Council transportation manager Nicola Moss thanked those who had taken time to respond to the survey.

“It is a fantastic result and gives us an understanding of people’s feelings and needs,” she said.

“The responses will be incorporated with technical data to help our plans for the future, which could range from additional road infrastructure, through improvements at junctions to public transport facilities.”

The draft strategy will be presented to councillors in October and will also be the subject of public consultation.
