Greenwards Play Park on track for upgrade
Greenwards Play Park in Elgin has moved a step closer to a major transformation, following a community-led design process.
A new design for the park was chosen through a public vote on Moray Engage, alongside children from Greenwards Primary School and Jack and Jill Nursery who were asked for feedback on four potential designs.
Moray Council has awarded the contract for the new play area to Sutcliffe, with installation expected to start in the first two weeks of September.
Construction of the new play facilities is expected to take around three weeks to complete, and the existing equipment will be removed next month.
New play items includes a ‘Tangle Trail’ obstacle course, wheelchair accessible rides and a nature activity centre.
Chair of Moray Council's Economic Development and Infrastructure Services Committee, Cllr Marc Macrae, said: "It's fantastic to see this project moving forward and I'm grateful to everyone who took part in the vote on Moray Engage. Play parks are important community spaces and it's especially encouraging to see local children helping to shape the design of the equipment they'll be using for years to come.”
The Greenwards upgrade forms part of the council's ongoing commitment to improving play provision across Moray, with local communities helping to influence the design and development of new and renewed play spaces.
