Increased berthing fees at Moray Council harbours agreed

Boatowners using Moray's harbours will pay more for their berths from April.

Councillors agreed new rates at a meeting today.

Chair of Moray Council’s Economic Development and Infrastructure Committee, Cllr John Cowe, said he was glad new charges have been set.

The committee agreed the following charges:

Pontoon berth - £60 per metre rounded up to next metre. This means that a 5.2metre vessel will be charged at 6metre rate.

Harbour wall berth - £50 per metre, rounded up to next metre.

Quayside - £40 per metre rounded up to next metre.

In addition the minimum boat length up to 5 metre was removed. The discount for over-60s will remain for existing boat owners currently in receipt of discount. New berth holders of pensionable age will not receive the discount.

Higher charges will apply once the installation of water/electricity to pontoons and harbours is carried out, but this will only happen if the majority of boat owners elect for the improvements.

All these charges have to be approved by the Full Council on 17 February 2017 before implemented.
