Keith locals asked for views on green energy developments
Moray Council is consulting on a draft development framework for green energy and infrastructure developments in the Keith area.
The framework is being drawn up in response to increasing development pressures in and around Keith and Blackhillock. It will guide proposals for grid infrastructure and energy systems and storage for renewable energy to be in the most appropriate locations in and around Keith.
The findings of a landscape sensitivity assessment, potential development sites for a range of uses are identified, along with the associated landscape mitigation required and will also be included.
As part of the engagement on the new Moray Local Development 2027, a drop-in exhibition is being held in the Longmore Community Hall, Keith on Saturday 9 September between 10am and 3pm with council officers on-hand to discuss the draft framework at the event.
Moray Council’s Chair of the Economic Development and Infrastructure Services Committee, Cllr Marc Macrae, is encouraging locals to have their say: “This framework will help to speed up the planning process, delivery of various linked facilities and jobs as well as the overall transition to Net Zero.
“There’s a fantastic opportunity for locals to have their say and speak with council officers about the framework and the wider local development planning landscape on 9 September and I hope they take that chance to get involved.”
Chair of the Planning and Regulatory Services Committee, Cllr David Gordon, added: “We really need the input of local residents and business to make sure the framework is representative in the future. This is a great example of local democracy in action. I’m delighted there are multiple ways in which folk can give their feedback and would encourage as many people are possible to do just that.”
Comments on the draft Framework, which can be found online here, must be received by 16 October 2023 and can be emailed to localdevelopmentplan@moray.gov.uk.
Written comments should be sent to Local Development Plan, Moray Council Offices, High Street, Elgin, IV30 1BX.
Following the consultation, all responses will be reported back to the Committee, along with the final Framework, for consideration.
