Lossie gorse fire latest
Firefighters brought the gorse fire at Lossiemouth under control in the early afternoon, and allowed the café and caravan site to re-open.
The teams will remain on site to ensure no re-ignition occurs. The rest centre established at Lossie High School will remain open until caravan site residents are content to return to their homes. Taxis were provided by Moray Council to ferry residents back as required.
Road closures have been lifted.

“Our response plans are well-rehearsed and provided all that was needed to ensure comfort and safety to residents, and to provide support to the blue-light services for road closures, etc.”
