The leadership at a Moray secondary school has been praised by inspectors from Education Scotland.

They said that the leadership of head teacher Trish Cameron and her senior team was creating a culture for improvement at Milne’s High in Fochabers.

The inspection report, published today, added: “They are providing clear strategic direction and managing change at an appropriate pace.”

Another key strength identified by the inspectors during their visit was the collaborative work of all staff which was also leading to improvement within the school and which was “developing an effective culture of self-evaluation.”

The inspectors also highlighted the support provided by the additional support needs team to help teachers meet the needs of young people across the school.

They said the team – which is also under new leadership - played a strong role in ensuring young people who require additional support with their learning engaged better with their learning and develop a range of important skills.

The report also identified areas for improvement, including involving pupils more directly in planning, leading and evaluating their own learning and shaping school improvement.

Of the four areas of performance evaluated by the inspectors, they ranked two as ‘good’ and two as ‘satisfactory’.

“We are confident that the school has the capacity to continue to improve and so we will make no more visits in connection with this inspection,” they said.
