Milne’s artificial pitch open for bookings following refurbishment
The new artificial turf pitch at Milne’s High School in Fochabers is open for bookings, following its £165,000 upgrade.
The project has seen the installation of a new playing surface and energy efficient LED floodlights, allowing school pupils and local community clubs to make use of the upgraded facility all year.
The pitch is the first of its kind in Moray to use natural cork granules in between the artificial grass blades, improving cushioning for players and providing an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional plastic materials.
The upgrade supports the council’s climate change adaptation commitments, and it’s anticipated the new surface will encourage greater use of the facility by local community groups. Giving a boost for community sport while also helping to generate additional income for Moray Council from pitch bookings.
Denise Whitworth, Executive Director for Education, Housing and Communities said: “It’s great to see this project completed and the Milne’s pitch back in use by pupils and community groups.
“The installation of a cork-based playing surface is a positive step in supporting our commitment to sustainability, while providing a high-quality facility for sport and physical activity.
“We hope the upgraded pitch will be well used by the local community for many years to come.”
Members of the community can book the pitch by emailing sportbookings@moray.gov.uk.
