Moray Council and tsiMoray collaborate to provide support to families in need

An online COVID in Moray information resource has been expanded to provide support to families in need.

The community database for COVID-19 support will now include specific services and information for families in Moray, thanks to a new collaboration between tsiMORAY and Moray Council.

The database was set up in the first week of lockdown and has become one of Moray’s go-to sources for people who need help and information during the crisis.

A major issue for many since the lockdown has been where to find trusted information, and quickly. The newly-expanded database of information and contacts brings together the support available from the third sector and council services under one umbrella.

Communications and design officer with tsiMORAY, Pamela Fanning, created the database.

She welcomed the council’s support.

“What we have learned in the last few months is that our database contains many services that can support children and families and people of all ages,” she said.

“It’s also becoming a valuable source of knowledge for people and professionals who work in Moray's communities.

“This next stage of the database development would not be possible without Moray Council’s support and co-operation”.

All commissioned services for adults that are providing COVID-19 support are registered on the database. Moray Council will be finishing populating the database with information for children and families in the coming week in response to emerging needs of financial support, mental health and wellbeing and family support.

Moray Council’s head of education resources and communities, Jo Shirriffs, says the database will help individuals, communities, third sector and public sector professionals meet the emerging needs of people in Moray.

“This is about providing quality information in one place and making sure it is easily accessible so that everyone can get the support they need without trawling the web and making endless phone calls,” she said.

“We are very pleased to be working together with tsiMORAY on this vital project.”
