Moray Council appoints Older People’s Champion
Moray Council has appointed Cllr Sonya Warren to the role of Older People’s Champion.
The appointment follows the Age Scotland and Scottish Older People’s Assembly (SOPA) campaign to secure the appointment of a Councillor as an Older People’s Champion in each of Scotland’s 32 local authorities. Moray joins the other 19 local authorities who have already appointed their champion.
Speaking of her appointment, Cllr Warren said: “As the Older People’s Champion I look forward to working to help ensure older peoples voices are heard within the community, including raise awareness of issues affecting older people in the local area.
“I have a very personal connection with this role and I’m determined to ensure older peoples perspectives are understood when the council is developing policy and campaigns.
“I will take up all issues affecting older people in Moray immediately and am grateful to my council colleagues for this opportunity and for agreeing to implement this role.”
