Moray Council celebrates double success at national housing awards

Moray Council is celebrating a double win at a prestigious national awards ceremony, recognising excellence in tenant communication and participation.

The council has been honoured at the Tenant Participation Advisory Service (TPAS) Scotland’s National Good Practice Awards with two major accolades:

  • Good Practice in Communicating with Tenants and Residents – recognising the council’s tenant newsletter, developed in partnership with its Tenant Editorial Panel
  • Tenant Participation Officer of the Year – celebrating outstanding work by Rebecca Irons in supporting tenant engagement and empowerment.

The awards highlight innovation and best practice in tenant participation and engagement across the country.

The award for communication acknowledges the success of Moray Council’s tenant newsletter, which is shaped and driven by its dedicated Tenant Editorial Panel. The panel works closely with staff to ensure content is clear, relevant and reflects the priorities and experiences of tenants and residents.

Through this collaborative approach, the newsletter has become an effective platform for sharing updates, highlighting services, and showcasing community stories, while ensuring tenants’ voices remain central to decision-making.

The Tenant Participation Officer of the Year award recognises the exceptional commitment and impact of Rebecca Irons, Moray Council’s Customer Engagement Officer, who leads on the council’s tenant participation work. The award highlights the role of officers in strengthening relationships with tenants, encouraging involvement, and helping communities influence the services that affect them.

Chair of Moray Council’s Housing and Community Safety Committee, Cllr Amber Dunbar, said: “I’m absolutely delighted to see our hard-working and dedicated team receive these awards. They reflect the council’s ongoing commitment to working in partnership with our tenants and ensuring their voices are heard.

“The success of our tenant newsletter is a direct result of the passion and dedication of our Tenant Editorial Panel, while the Tenant Participation Officer award recognises Rebecca’s invaluable work being done every day to engage and empower our communities.

“Moray Council extends its thanks to all tenants, residents, and staff involved in tenant participation activities, whose contributions made this success possible. These awards reinforce the Council’s commitment to continuous improvement in communication and collaboration, ensuring tenants remain at the heart of housing services.”
