Early years Survey

Moray Council invites feedback on Early Learning and Childcare provision

Moray Council is inviting parents, carers, and families to share their views on Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) as part of its duty to consult and plan services.

Under Scottish Government guidance, councils must regularly ask parents and carers of children under school age about childcare services to help shape how funded ELC is provided.

The online survey, open until 30 September 2025, asks families to share their experiences of using funded hours for eligible two- to five-year-olds; their preferences for how flexible the hours are; the types of childcare available; and how easy or difficult they’ve found the current application process.

Families are also encouraged to share their views on future needs, including whether they would like the option of Gaelic medium childcare.

Taking part in the consultation is an important chance for families to influence how childcare is provided in Moray. The feedback will help the council make sure services meet the needs of parents and carers while still providing the 1,140 hours of funded childcare that every eligible child has a right to each year.

Chair of Moray Council’s Education, Communities and Leisure Services Committee, Cllr Kathleen Robertson, said: “Parents and carers know best what works for their families, and your feedback is vital to shaping the future of Early Learning and Childcare in Moray. By taking part in this consultation, you can directly influence how services are delivered and help us make sure they meet the needs of children and families across our communities. While we may not be able to accommodate every variation and request we get, we aim to make our offering as sustainable as possible while meeting families’ needs.”
