Keith ASG Engagement

Moray Council launches community engagement in Keith ASG to shape future of local schools

Moray Council has today (Monday 2 September) launched the fourth phase of their engagement to address sustainability challenges of their current learning estate, focusing on the Keith Associated School Group (ASG).

The engagement is part of a broader effort to examine the use, occupancy, suitability, and condition of all Moray schools. The council aims to create a modern, fit-for-purpose and affordable learning environment for communities across Moray.

Each ASG is being evaluated individually, allowing for a focused approach within each community. Public engagement has already been carried out in the Forres, Buckie and Elgin ASGs and the roll out of other ASG focused engagement across Moray will continue over the next year.

Local residents in Keith are encouraged to participate in an online survey, open until 30 September 2024, to share their thoughts and ideas on the future of local schools.

A community drop-in session will be held at Keith Sports and Community Centre on 19 September from 10.30am-7.30pm. This is a chance for anyone who wishes to discuss and share their thoughts in-person to come along and speak with the team.

Chair of Moray Council’s Education, Children’s Services and Leisure Committee, Cllr Kathleen Robertson, said: “To ensure every pupil in Moray receives the highest quality education, it’s essential that our schools are ready to support the needs of today’s learners. We need to modernize our learning environments so they can provide the best possible opportunities for our young people to succeed in the 21st century.

“I encourage everyone in the Keith ASG area to get involved, whether by filling out the survey or coming to the drop-in session. Your feedback will play a key role in shaping the future of our schools.”
