Moray Council launches engagement in Speyside ASG to shape future of local schools
Moray Council has today (Monday 4 November) kicked off the next phase of their engagement to address the sustainability challenges of their current learning estate, focusing on the Speyside Associated School Group (ASG).
The engagement aims to examine how schools are currently being used; how well they meet the needs of pupils; and the costs involved. This is all part of the council’s wider plan to ensure a modern, fit-for-purpose learning estate that serves the needs of communities while remaining sustainable and affordable.
Each ASG is being evaluated individually, allowing for a tailored approach within each community. Public engagement has already taken place in the Forres, Buckie, Elgin, and Keith ASGs with the Speyside ASG now the focus of attention.
Local residents in Speyside are invited to take part in an online survey, open from 4 November until 2 December 2024, to share their thoughts on the future of local schools.
Two community drop-in sessions will be held, one at Tomintoul Library on Monday 18 November from 12.30pm to 3pm and another at Aberlour Library on Tuesday 19 November from 2.30pm to 8pm. These sessions offer an opportunity for anyone interested to access further information on the Speyside schools and share their thoughts and ideas directly with the Moray Council Learning Estate team.
Chair of Moray Council’s Education, Children’s and Leisure Services Committee, Cllr Kathleen Robertson, said: “Every young person deserves the best possible start in life, which begins with access to high-quality education tailored to their needs.
“This community engagement is an invaluable opportunity for everyone to influence the future of our local schools. I invite you all to join us, share your thoughts, and help us create a stronger, sustainable learning environment in Moray.”
