Moray Council launches engagement to shape the future of Milne’s local schools
Moray Council has today (Monday 3 February) kicked off a new phase of community engagement focused on the future of schools in the Milne’s Associated Schools Group (ASG).
The engagement aims to assess the use, condition, and suitability of the schools in the Milne’s area, with the goal of ensuring that Moray’s schools are modern, accessible, and affordable for generations to come.
By following a tailored approach, the council is addressing the unique needs of each community within the ASG. Previous engagement sessions have already been held across Forres, Buckie, Elgin, Keith, and Speyside, and now it’s Milne’s turn to join in. Further engagement is planned to kick off in Lossiemouth in March.
The Milne’s ASG area community are encouraged to share their thoughts and ideas through an online survey, available until 3 March 2025.
In addition, two community drop-in sessions will be held at Fochabers Library for those wishing to learn more or provide feedback in person. The sessions will be held on:
- Thursday 13 February from 2pm to 5pm
- Tuesday 18 February from 5pm to 8pm
These sessions provide a chance to meet with the Moray Council Learning Estate team, ask questions, and share ideas on how to improve the schools in the Milne’s area.
Chair of Moray Council’s Education, Children’s and Leisure Services Committee, Cllr Kathleen Robertson, said: “Ensuring that our schools provide the best possible learning environment for our pupils is a shared responsibility, and the views of our community are essential in shaping that future. The feedback we receive will be instrumental in guiding decisions about the future of schools in the Milne’s ASG, helping us make informed choices that reflect the values and priorities of the local community.”
Residents can visit the Milne’s ASG webpage for more information and to take part in the online survey.
Media representatives who wish to attend the drop-in sessions should contact pr@moray.gov.uk to make arrangements.
