Moray Council Libraries announce new opening hours
Moray Council has announced updated opening hours across its library network from 30 March 2026, supporting a more sustainable service for local communities.
Detailed conversations with library user groups have taken place over recent months and their feedback has played a central role in shaping the new opening hours. A public survey for the new opening hours was also conducted, which received over 800 responses, and changes to the original proposal were made following this public input to make sure community expectations are met.
Under the revised hours, all libraries will continue to offer access to books, digital resources, study spaces, events and family activities, with timings adjusted to align more closely with patterns of local demand.
Council Leader, Cllr Kathleen Robertson, said: “Our libraries are important to our communities, and these updated opening hours will help ensure they remain sustainable, welcoming and accessible for everyone. I’d like to thank our library users for their thoughtful input throughout this process. Their feedback has shaped these changes and we look forward to continuing this engagement.”
Engagement with library user groups will continue throughout the year to help ensure the new model is working well for residents. The opening hours will be formally reviewed after one year, allowing the council to make further adjustments where needed.
The updated timetable for each branch is available online here and will be shared in local libraries.
