Moray Council libraries launch new digital research services

Moray Council libraries are pleased to announce the addition of two powerful research tools now available to all library members: The British Newspaper Archive and Ancestry Library Edition.

Explore history through millions of newspaper articles from around the world. The British Newspaper Archive is now accessible at local libraries, offering free searches and access to historical newspapers with a library membership card.

Trace family history with Ancestry Library Edition, now available in all Moray libraries. Discover UK records for births, deaths, marriages, military service, and more. Access historical documents including UK Census Records, Parish Records, and Immigration/Emigration Records to start a genealogy journey today.

Library PCs are free to use, but booking in advance is recommended to guarantee availability. Bookings can be made online here. Alternatively, connect to public Wi-Fi and access these resources on a personal device.

Chair of Moray Council’s Education, Children’s and Leisure Services committee, Cllr Kathleen Robertson, said: “We’re delighted to offer these new digital resources to our community. Whether you’re researching your family tree or exploring historical events, these tools provide a wealth of information right at your fingertips."
