Moray Council supports Scotland Loves Local Week

Moray Council is proud to support Scotland Loves Local Week, running from Saturday 23 to Saturday 30 August 2025.

The national campaign, led by Scotland’s Towns Partnership, encourages people across Scotland to think local first, whether shopping, eating out, visiting attractions or using local services.

Moray Council Leader, Cllr Kathleen Robertson, said: “Local businesses are at the heart of our towns and communities. Scotland Loves Local Week is a chance to celebrate the people behind those businesses, and to recognise the vital role they play in keeping Moray’s economy strong and our communities vibrant.”

Throughout the week, Moray Council will be highlighting some of the fantastic businesses across the region on the Moray Gift Card Facebook page. These stories will showcase the value of shopping locally and the positive impact it has on the people and places that make Moray unique.

A key part of Moray’s local effort is the Moray Gift Card, which can be spent at more than 260 businesses across the region, from cafés and gift shops to salons and visitor attractions. Available in both physical and digital formats, the Moray Gift Card is an ideal gift or simple way to support the local economy.

It’s also free for businesses to join the scheme. Signing up gives businesses the opportunity to attract new customers, be part of a Moray-wide network and benefit from free marketing opportunities. More information, including how to register and a full list of participating businesses, is available online.

Anyone can get involved during the week by using the Moray Gift Card for local shopping, choosing local wherever possible, and encouraging others to think local first. By supporting local businesses, residents help strengthen the Moray economy, protect jobs, and keep towns thriving.

Chair of Moray Council’s Economic Development and Infrastructure Services Committee, Cllr Marc Macrae, added: “Scotland Loves Local Week is a reminder that our everyday choices make a difference. By choosing local, we can all play a part in ensuring Moray’s businesses don’t just survive, but thrive - not just this week, but all year round.”
