Moray libraries celebrate Book Week Scotland
A best-selling Tartan Noir crime-writer, a leading Doric advocate and the illustrator of a much-loved children’s book series will be taking part in Moray’s celebrations to mark Book Week Scotland 2024, which runs from 18-24 November.
Crime novelist Lin Anderson will share the secrets behind crafting a killer plot at Elgin Library on Friday 22 November.
Well known for penning the Rhona McLeod book series, Lin (pictured) will talk about her work at the public event, with a focus on her latest book, Whispers of the Dead.
She said: “I’m delighted to be taking part in Moray’s Book Week Scotland celebrations, and I very much look forward to meeting readers at Elgin Library.”
Doric storyteller Jackie Ross will share tales with children from Milbank, Cluny, Portgordon and St Peter’s primary schools at Buckie Library.
Jackie, co-founder of the Doric Books Company, said she was excited to be taking part: “I'm fair trickit tae be gaun up tae Buckie fur Book Week Scotland. It's gaun tae be fun.”
Elsewhere, Primary 1 and 2 pupils from Pilmuir Primary School will meet illustrator Chloe Holwill-Hunter at Forres Library. Chloe is best known for illustrating the One Button Benny children’s book series, written by Alan Windram.
She said: “I’m pleased to be taking part in Moray’s Book Week Scotland celebrations – and it really is a privilege to engage with young readers in this way, and hopefully inspire both their creativity and passion for reading.”
Lin Anderson’s event will take place at 2pm on Friday 22 November. There will be an audience Q&A, and the opportunity to purchase signed books. Sign up to attend here.
