Moray residents embrace digital library access

Unable to access physical library books during the current pandemic, Moray readers are increasingly turning to the digital world to get their literary fix.

Sign-ups to Moray Council’s RBdigital platform, which gives library members access to eBooks and eAudiobooks, has risen from 32 new registrations in January to 133 in April.

Anticipating this upturn in the need for eReading, the library service has added titles for children in both eBook and eAudiobook formats. This provides material for the youngest readers to teenage material for young adult borrowers.

Additional books have also been sourced to appeal to existing RBdigital customers with a wider range of crime novels and more general fiction titles being added.  This has already resulted in an increase in eBook borrowing of 135%, and a 56% rise in the amount of eAudiobooks being checked out in April compared to January this year.

The RBdigital platform has also enabled Moray Libraries to add a new service in the shape of eComics, giving access to online comic books for all ages - from Mickey Mouse to Marvel heroes. Registration to use these resources is quick and easy using your Moray Libraries membership card number.

To set up your initial RBdigital account follow the instructions on the Moray Council website inserting the letters MC before your membership number.
