Moray residents encouraged to join the climate conversation through public webinars
A SERIES of public webinars are being held to discuss Moray residents’ views on climate change.
It forms part of the public consultation being held on Moray Council’s draft climate change strategy, which sees the council aim to become carbon neutral by 2030. The public consultation closes on 30 October.
Now the council, working with tsiMORAY, is inviting residents to have their say, and the opportunity to discuss the strategy with other residents before completing the council’s online survey.
These are being held on:
2 October, 1 – 2.30pm
6 October, 6 – 7.30pm
14 October, 2 – 3.30pm
All discussions are being held virtually, in light of Covid-19 restrictions, and those wanting to take part are being asked to register their interest.
Chair of Moray Council’s Climate Change Working Group, Cllr Louise Nicol, is encouraging people from all walks of life in Moray to participate.
“It doesn’t matter how much or little you know about climate change, your age, or where you live in the area – we all have something to contribute and discuss about climate change, and I would urge residents to take the opportunity to have their say.
“Predominately we’re focussing on what actions the council are taking to reduce our carbon footprint. We value the input from our residents on what they think about the proposals, our action plan, and their understanding of climate change.”
tsiMORAY’s Third Sector Development Officer, Edward Fitsell, said: “These meetings, hosted by tsiMORAY, represent a great opportunity for residents and organisations in Moray to contribute to this strategy and support their local council to achieve the ambitious target of net-zero by 2030.
“They could also serve to encourage individuals, organisations and communities that haven’t already done so, to develop their own emissions-related targets and plans for how to get there.”
