Moray residents urged to discard plastic payment cards for Council Tax and Housing Benefit Overpayment
MORE than 2,000 residents in Moray are still using plastic payment cards to make payments at Post Offices and PayPoints.
These will soon be out of date so Moray Council is urging those who pay Council Tax or Housing Benefit Overpayments with these cards to discard them immediately.
Instead, council tax payers must use their 2017/18 council tax bill or the one dated after 1 April 2017 to ensure their payments are not rejected. The Post Office and Paypoint counter staff will scan the up-to-date barcode on their bill, and this will transfer money successfully.
Housing Benefit overpayments can also be paid using the council invoice dated after 1 April 2017.
Customers who continue to use plastic payment cards after the new tax year will have their payment rejected by the retailer.
Those who don’t have their 2017-18 council tax bill, or a housing benefit overpayment invoice from this tax year, should contact Moray Council’s customer service team. Customers can email revenues@moray.gov.uk or call 01343 563456.
Famous for its colony of dolphins, fabulous beaches and more malt whisky distilleries than any where else in Scotland, Moray is a thriving area and a great place to live. Nestling between Aberdeenshire and the Highlands, Moray stretches from Tomintoul in the south to the shores of the Moray Firth, from Keith in the east to Brodie Castle in the west.
