Moray’s early years guide for parents published

A new early years guide, called Your Choices, giving parents and carers all the information they need about early learning and childcare in Moray, has been launched by Moray Council.

The guide covers everything from choosing a nursery or childminder to starting school as well as details on funded lunches in settings and even career options for working in the sector and is available in hard copy and online.

As a result of the Scottish Government’s expansion of funded early learning and childcare hours children will be entitled to 1,140 hours a year in a nursery or with a childminder. Working out at 22 hours a week if taken all year round or 30 hours a week if used term-time, this means significant changes to how parents choose and use early learning and childcare in Moray.

Information sessions are currently taking place around Moray for parents and carers, as well as staff, where local authority nurseries are due to begin offering the increased hours in phase two, beginning August 2019.

It’s hoped Your Choices will assist parents with their decisions ahead of January’s nursery registration week - further details on registration week will be posted online.

Famous for its colony of dolphins, fabulous beaches and more malt whisky distilleries than any where else in Scotland, Moray is a thriving area and a great place to live. Nestling between Aberdeenshire and the Highlands, Moray stretches from Tomintoul in the south to the shores of the Moray Firth, from Keith in the east to Brodie Castle in the west.
