Moray schools closed to pupils on 24 November

Moray Council has confirmed all primary and secondary schools will be closed to pupils on Thursday 24 November, due to potential industrial action by the EIS and AHDS unions.

Early Learning and Childcare settings are not affected and will open as normal.

Staff groups which may be involved are Class Teachers, Principal Teachers, Depute Head Teachers, and Head Teachers. Therefore, this precautionary step is being taken due to staffing levels potentially not meeting the ratios required to operate safely with pupils in the school. Non-teaching staff may be in schools on this day.

Moray Council’s Head of Education, Vivienne Cross, said: “We appreciate parents and carers may need to make alternative childcare arrangements, which is why we want to make families aware of the closure as early as possible.

“We will, of course, update parents and carers with any further developments.”
