Moray sees increase of young people in education, training and work
More young people in Moray are in education, training or work, than in previous years, according to new figures from Skills Development Scotland’s 2025 Annual Participation Measure.
Between April 2024 and March 2025, 94.3% of 16-19 year olds in Moray were in a positive destination – up from last year and higher than the national average of 93.3%.
The report also shows that only 3.6% of young people in Moray were not participating, while just 2.1% had an unconfirmed status. This means Moray now has a clearer picture of what young people are doing, with less uncertainty about their next steps in life.
Partners including Skills Development Scotland, Moray College UHI, Moray Council’s Education Service, DYW Moray, Moray Pathways and CLD Youth Work have all played an important role in supporting young people across Moray into positive destinations.
Cllr Kathleen Robertson, Chair of Moray Council’s Education, Children’s Services and Leisure Committee, said: “It’s encouraging to see Moray’s participation rate above the national average again this year. These results are a clear reflection of the hard work and commitment of schools, colleges, training providers, and employers across Moray, all working together to provide young people with the best possible opportunities. Moving forward, we aim to build on this progress to ensure every young person in Moray has a pathway that allows them to thrive.”
