Moray waste update following winter weather disruption – 9 January 2026

Waste (green bins) and recycling (blue and purple bins) scheduled for collection on week beginning 12 January 2026 will be carried out on their scheduled day, depending on weather conditions.

No glass or brown bins will be collected on any route next week - this is to allow us to redeploy staff and vehicles to catch up on collections missed this week.

Route numbers can be found at the bottom of your Waste Collection Calendar, which can be found here: Bin Day Finder.

The following collections which were missed on Monday 5 January will be done on Monday 12 January:

Elgin - Route 1 – green and recycling bins only

Lhanbryde - Route 11 - green and recycling bins only

Kinloss and Findhorn – Route 61 - green and recycling bins only

Kinloss Southside – Route 61/66 - green and recycling bins only

Dufftown - Route 81 - at this time we’re unable to return to carry out the collections missed on Monday 5 January due to the conditions. We hope to carry these out on Tuesday 13 January, depending on weather conditions – please check the Service Status Portal for confirmation next week.

Unfortunately, we’re unable to return for waste or recycling on the following routes which we were unable to service this week. Excess bagged material will be uplifted on your next scheduled collection day:

Logie/Mundole areas - Route 77

Dyke/Brodie areas - Route 78

Rafford/Dallas areas – Route 79

Milton/Coltfield areas – Route 80

Alternative collection days for routes missed between 6 and 9 January 2026 will be advised on the portal as soon as possible next week.

We anticipate that all Household Waste Recycling Centres will be able to open their normal working hours over the weekend.

While there are further weather warnings in place for over the weekend, we don’t anticipate these impacting our waste operations next week but will update as soon as possible if there are changes.

Thank you for your patience as we faced challenges with waste collections due to the weather and please continue to check the Service Status Portal for daily updates.
