Moray's 10-year development plan signed off

Moray Council’s blueprint for the area’s housing, commercial and infrastructure development for the next ten years has been approved.

Members of the council’s Emergency Cabinet signed off the final version of the Local Development Plan at a special meeting this week.

The Local Development Plan sets out parameters and guidance for developers and planners, self-builders and businesses.

Chair of Moray Council’s Planning and Infrastructure Committee, Cllr David Bremner, welcomed the approval.

“The Local Development Plan 2020 forms the strategy & vision for planning, development & economic growth throughout Moray up until 2030 and beyond, and I’m delighted that it has now been adopted,” he said.

“It shouldn’t be underestimated the enormous amount of work that each Local Development Plan takes, & I’d like to congratulate the work and dedication of all staff who’ve contributed & guided this to fruition, as well as everybody - members of the public, public & private sector organisations - who contributed throughout the extensive consultation process.”

The plan provides guidance to residents, developers and investors as to how much and where growth is proposed for land uses, such as housing and employment, and sets out a wide range of policies which are used to determine planning applications.
